Head of Health and Safety

Location: Basingstoke, with flexible with travel to sites across the South

Salary: Strong Salary + package

A leading construction organisation is seeking a Head of Health and Safety to lead and drive a robust, compliant, and forward-thinking health and safety function across its southern operations.

Reporting to the Group Director of SHEQ, this senior leadership role will play a key part in shaping and implementing the organisation’s long-term health and safety strategy, embedding a positive safety culture, and ensuring full compliance across all business units and project sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Set and lead the strategic direction for Health and Safety across the group
• Design, implement, and maintain a compliant Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001)
• Drive continuous improvement via an evolving H&S improvement plan
• Ensure full legal and regulatory compliance across multiple sites and business units
• Lead internal and external audits and accreditations
• Provide expert guidance to site teams and senior leadership
• Monitor leading and lagging indicators and use data insights to drive performance

What We’re Looking For:

• Must have previous experience working within construction industry
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Health and Safety qualification is essential
• Chartered or Cert IOSH membership
• Excellent communication and influencing ability
• Experience managing health and safety across multiple projects / regions
• A proactive and strategic thinker, confident in driving change and engagement at all levels
