Sustainability & Environmental Manager

Region: Southern England and Wales (Regional Travel Required)

Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 + Car or Allowance, Private Medical

 

About the Role:

 

We’re partnering with a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor seeking someone to lead their sustainability and environmental function across Southern England and Wales. It’s an excellent opportunity for an experienced Sustainability & Environmental Manager to drive regional initiatives, influence strategy, and embed best practice across multi-disciplinary projects.

 

You’ll work closely with project, operational and senior leadership teams to drive continuous improvement, ensure compliance, and strengthen the regions sustainability culture. You’ll also lead and develop a regional team of advisors.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Shape and deliver the regional sustainability and environmental strategy
  • Provide expert guidance on environmental legislation, industry standards and best practice
  • Integrate sustainability considerations into project planning and delivery
  • Lead investigations, reporting and corrective actions for environmental incidents
  • Support training, coaching and development for project teams
  • Manage and mentor regional sustainability/environmental advisors
  • Oversee site visits, audits and reporting across active projects
  • Build strong relationships with clients, regulators and internal stakeholders

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Background in civil engineering, infrastructure or construction, rail experience beneficial
  • Relevant qualification in Environmental or Sustainability disciplines
  • Chartered or working toward chartered status (IEMA or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of legal and contractual frameworks relating to environmental sustainability
  • Confident engaging at all levels and influencing project delivery teams
