Project EHS Manager (Chef de Projet HSE)

France – Major EPC Project
€100,000 – €130,000 + bonus + car allowance + benefits


Overview of the role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Project EHS Manager (Chef de Projet HSE) to lead and oversee all health, safety, and environmental aspects of a major EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) project in France. This is a senior position with responsibility for driving EHS excellence across principal contractors, subcontractors, and joint venture partners on a complex, high-value project.


Key responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic EHS leadership across the full EPC project lifecycle, ensuring compliance with national and international standards 

  • Oversee and coordinate the safety performance of multiple principal contractors and subcontractors, enforcing best practice and continuous improvement.

  • Develop and implement robust project-specific HSE plans, procedures, and emergency response protocols.

  • Lead site audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions are effectively applied.

  • Report EHS performance metrics to senior management and client representatives, delivering clear, data-driven updates.

  • Champion a positive EHS culture across a multicultural, multi-contractor workforce, including delivery of high-impact training and engagement programmes.


Required qualifications & experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior EHS management role on major EPC or mega-projects (infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, nuclear or similar).

  • Strong knowledge of French HSE legislation and EU directives; familiarity with major hazard site regulations advantageous.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence Tier 1 contractors and large subcontractor teams.

  • Recognised HSE qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma, Master HSE, French equivalent).

  • Fluent French essential; professional English proficiency required (written and spoken).
