Regional Safety Manager – Civil Engineering (North West/Yorkshire)

£58,000-£65,000 plus car/allowance

About the Role

A well-established civil engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Regional Safety Manager to oversee health, safety, and compliance across multiple projects in the North West and Yorkshire. This role will involve ensuring the highest safety standards are maintained while promoting a strong health and safety culture within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

As Regional Safety Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing health and safety management across multiple civil engineering projects.
  • Providing leadership, support, and guidance to site teams on all safety-related matters.
  • Conducting regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety legislation and company policies.
  • Investigating incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Developing and delivering safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs.
  • Ensuring risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are effectively implemented and adhered to.
  • Engaging with regulatory bodies, clients, and stakeholders to uphold best practices in health and safety.
  • Driving continuous improvement in safety performance and embedding a proactive safety culture.
  • Supporting the SHEQ team in implementing and maintaining ISO 45001 standards.

Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Proven experience in a safety management role within civil engineering, construction, or infrastructure projects.
  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and membership of IOSH (GradIOSH/CMIOSH preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations, UK HSE legislation, and industry best practices.
  • Experience conducting audits, investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence safety culture at all levels.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the North West and Yorkshire.
